Short answer: Miami can be a good place for IHG points, but you have to pick the hotel carefully. In our live check on Sunday November 1, 2026, the typical Miami night was worth $54.27 per 10,000 points, just under the $55.90 line where IHG Points Finder calls a night a good use of points. The best picks were Holiday Inn Miami Beach-Oceanfront ($69.70 per 10,000 points), InterContinental Miami ($67.39) and Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel ($67.17).

Miami Beach was the strongest area, at a median $66.07 per 10,000 points across four hotels. At the other end, both Iberostar Waves hotels came out as pay cash on every night we priced.

How we ranked

We searched Miami on IHG Points Finder for six single nights: Friday November 20, Wednesday December 2, Saturday December 5 and Wednesday December 9 2026, plus Saturday January 16 and Tuesday January 26 2027. That gave 219 nights at 46 hotels with both a points price and a cash price. For each hotel we took the median value per 10,000 points across its nights (cash divided by points, times 10,000). IHG Points Finder calls a night a good use of points from $55.90, a strong one from $67, and says pay cash below $44.70.

Across Miami, 40% of nights were a good use of points, 52% were either way and 8% were pay cash. A typical night cost 42,000 points or $225.80, and half of all nights fell between 32,200 and 62,000 points.

Miami Beach vs Brickell vs airport vs Fort Lauderdale

AreaHotelsNightsMedian pointsValue per 10,000 points

Iberostar Waves (Miami Beach and Berkeley Shore)2978,100$38.30

The beach hotels cost a lot of points but gave the most back. The airport and Doral hotels were cheaper in points but sat right on the edge of good value. Fort Lauderdale, which falls inside the wider Miami search, was the weakest regular group.

Where cash wins in Miami

Both Iberostar Waves hotels were pay cash on all nine nights they were priced, with a best value of only $41.22 per 10,000 points. Iberostar Waves Miami Beach asked 96,100 points on Saturday December 5 for a $367.64 room, which works out at $38.26 per 10,000 points.

Staybridge Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport - West was also weak, at a median $42.94 and as much as 100,000 points on Saturday January 16, 2027 for a $366.06 room. Hotel Indigo Miami Brickell dipped to $42.80 on the same Saturday at 84,000 points.

If a Miami night works out under $44.70 per 10,000 points (more than about 224 points per dollar of cash price), you are usually better off paying cash and saving the points. Our points or cash guide has the simple rule.

A note on 120,000 point nights

Thirteen Miami nights were priced at 120,000 points or more, all at the luxury end: Kimpton EPIC Hotel, Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel, Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach, Circa 39 Hotel and InterContinental Miami. Several sat at exactly 120,000 points. Some of these nights showed very high cash prices, which makes the value per point look excellent, but prices at this level often change as rooms open and close. Check the exact room and price on IHG before you book one.

Weekday vs weekend in Miami

Weekends cost far more points in Miami, but the value per point stayed about the same because cash prices rose too.

Tuesday and Wednesday12236,000$187.86$54.167%
Friday and Saturday9757,000$304.87$54.9910%

On the 26 hotels priced on both Wednesday December 2 and Saturday December 5, 77% charged more points on the Saturday, and the median rose from 38,000 to 62,000 points. If you only have a small balance, a midweek stay goes much further. Saturday January 16, 2027 was the weakest night, at a median $48.34 per 10,000 points.
