Short answer: in our live check on Saturday October 31, 2026, the typical IHG reward night gave 0.58 US cents per point, or $58.00 per 10,000 points. Half of the 3,953 nights we priced fell between $52.40 and $63.70 per 10,000 points. So 50,000 IHG points were worth about $290 in hotel stays at the middle of the range, and 100,000 points about $580. To price a specific hotel and date, use the free IHG points calculator.
That is the quick version. The real value of your points depends on which hotel and which night you book, because IHG One Rewards prices reward nights dynamically. The table below gives you a fair range for any balance. After that we show you how to work out the exact figure for your own stay in under a minute.
How we got these numbers
On October 31, 2026 we asked the IHG Points Finder live search for one-night stays in all 62 featured cities on four nights: Saturday November 21, Tuesday November 24 and Thursday December 10, 2026, and Tuesday January 19, 2027. We kept every night where IHG showed both a cash rate and a points price, which gave 3,953 hotel nights at 1,101 hotels in 59 cities. Doha, Dubai and Taipei are left out because their cash prices came back in local currency that morning, so they could not be compared fairly.
We also ran the Tuesday November 24 search in euros, which gave 993 nights for the euro columns.
Value per 10,000 points is the cash price divided by the points price, times 10,000. Cash prices are as observed by IHG Points Finder and may not include every tax and fee. Prices change daily, so treat this as a snapshot, not a quote.
IHG points value lookup table
Find your balance, then read across. "Low" is the 25th percentile of nights we priced, "Typical" is the median and "High" is the 75th percentile. Half of all nights fell between Low and High.
| Your points | Low (USD) | Typical (USD) | High (USD) | Low (EUR) | Typical (EUR) | High (EUR) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10,000 | $52 | $58 | $64 | €47 | €53 | €58 |
| 25,000 | $131 | $145 | $159 | €118 | €132 | €144 |
| 50,000 | $262 | $290 | $319 | €237 | €264 | €289 |
| 100,000 | $524 | $580 | $637 | €473 | €528 | €577 |
| 150,000 | $786 | $870 | $956 | €710 | €792 | €866 |
USD figures use all 3,953 nights. Euro figures use the 993 nights priced in euros for Tuesday November 24, 2026.
In cents per point that works out to:
| Measure | US cents per point | Euro cents per point |
|---|---|---|
| Low (25th percentile) | 0.52 | 0.47 |
| Typical (median) | 0.58 | 0.53 |
| High (75th percentile) | 0.64 | 0.58 |
Ten percent of nights were worth more than $69.50 per 10,000 points and ten percent were worth less than $47.20. Single nights went much further. InterContinental Osaka gave $104.20 per 10,000 points on Saturday November 21 ($1,250.55 cash or 120,000 points), while Holiday Inn Munich - Leuchtenbergring gave just $26.80 on January 19 ($96.45 cash or 36,000 points). That spread is why a single average is only a starting point.
How many nights does your balance buy?
A balance is only worth something once you turn it into nights. The typical IHG reward night in this pull cost 25,000 points. Half of all nights cost 25,000 points or less, 87.5% cost 50,000 or less and 97.7% cost 100,000 or less.
Brand changes the answer a lot. Full nights you could book at each brand's median price:
| Brand | Hotels priced | Median points per night | 50,000 points | 100,000 points | 150,000 points |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Garner Hotel | 32 | 17,000 | 2 nights | 5 nights | 8 nights |
| Holiday Inn Express | 259 | 22,000 | 2 nights | 4 nights | 6 nights |
| Holiday Inn | 201 | 24,000 | 2 nights | 4 nights | 6 nights |
| Crowne Plaza | 107 | 28,000 | 1 night | 3 nights | 5 nights |
| voco | 36 | 31,000 | 1 night | 3 nights | 4 nights |
| Hotel Indigo | 50 | 39,000 | 1 night | 2 nights | 3 nights |
| Kimpton | 41 | 48,000 | 1 night | 2 nights | 3 nights |
| InterContinental | 60 | 58,000 | 0 nights | 1 night | 2 nights |
| Regent | 6 | 87,000 | 0 nights | 1 night | 1 night |
Regent has only 6 hotels in the sample, so treat that row as rough. For the full breakdown by brand and city, see how many IHG points for a free night.
How to work out cents per point yourself
You do not need a special formula. Take the cash price for the room and the points price for the same room and night, then divide.
Cents per point = cash price ÷ points price × 100
Value per 10,000 points = cash price ÷ points price × 10,000
We do not subtract anything, such as the points you would earn on a paid stay. That keeps the number simple and easy to compare across hotels.
Three real examples from the October 31 pull:
| Hotel and night | Cash | Points | Value per 10,000 points | Cents per point |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| InterContinental New York Times Square, Tue Nov 24, 2026 | $529.34 | 81,000 | $65.40 | 0.65 |
| Garner Hotel Dublin Temple Bar, Tue Jan 19, 2027 | $100.78 | 17,000 | $59.30 | 0.59 |
| Holiday Inn Express London - Stratford, Tue Nov 24, 2026 | $210.03 | 52,000 | $40.40 | 0.40 |
Worked through for the first one: $529.34 ÷ 81,000 = 0.00653 dollars a point, which is 0.65 cents, or $65.40 for every 10,000 points. In euros the same night was €473.81 for 81,000 points, or €58.50 per 10,000.
The Stratford night is the one to skip. At $40.40 per 10,000 points it sits below the line where IHG Points Finder suggests paying cash.
What counts as a good value?
IHG Points Finder grades every night with the same bands. On October 31 the search used these lines:
| Grade | Euro per 10,000 points | US dollars per 10,000 points | Share of nights in our pull |
|---|---|---|---|
| Poor: pay cash | under €40 | under $44.70 | 5.5% |
| Fair: either works | €40 to €50 | $44.70 to $55.90 | 33.3% |
| Great or Exceptional: use points | €50 or more | $55.90 or more | 61.2% |
| Of which Exceptional | €60 or more | $67.00 or more | 15.3% |
So most nights were a reasonable use of points, but one in twenty was a clear "pay cash" night, and only about one in seven was exceptional. Our points or cash guide breaks these shares down by brand, price band and weekday versus weekend.
Check your own dates
The table above is a range. Your stay has one exact number, and it is quicker to look it up than to estimate it.
- Open the Compare view on IHG Points Finder and enter your city and dates. It shows the cash rate and the points price for each IHG hotel side by side, with the value per 10,000 points already worked out and graded.
- Open a hotel and check Value History. Historical rate tracking shows how cash, points and value have moved for that hotel over the last 30 days (90 days and all recorded days are on paid plans), so you can see if today's price is normal or unusually good.
- If the value is not there yet, add the stay to My Trips as an unbooked stay and IHG Points Finder will alert you when it reaches the value you pick. If you have already booked with points, add the booking to Points Guardian and it will check whether the same stay can be rebooked for fewer points.
The same hotel moves more than you might expect. Kimpton Theta New York - Times Square went from $64.10 per 10,000 points on Tuesday November 24 to $79.40 on Thursday December 10 and $71.60 on Tuesday January 19. Across the 785 hotels we priced on all four nights, the best night was a median 18% better value than the worst.
Quick answers
How much are 100,000 IHG points worth?
About $580, or about €528, at the typical value in our October 31, 2026 check. Half of all nights would have valued them between $524 and $637. At a typical Holiday Inn Express price of 22,000 points, 100,000 points covers 4 full nights.
How much is 1 IHG point worth?
The median was 0.58 US cents, or 0.53 euro cents, across 3,953 hotel nights priced on October 31, 2026. Half of all nights gave between 0.52 and 0.64 US cents.
How do I convert IHG points to USD or euros?
Multiply your points by 0.0058 for a typical US dollar value, or by 0.0053 for euros. For an exact figure on a real stay, divide the cash price by the points price.
Is there an IHG points calculator?
Yes. IHG Points Finder's Compare view does the cash versus points maths for the IHG hotels in up to three cities on your dates and grades each night from Poor (pay cash) to Exceptional. The lookup table on this page gives you the general range.
What is a good value for IHG points?
IHG Points Finder treats €50 per 10,000 points ($55.90 on October 31) or more as a good use of points and under €40 ($44.70) as a night to pay cash. In our pull, 61.2% of nights reached the good line and 5.5% fell below the pay-cash line.
Do IHG points lose value?
Points do not have a fixed value, so what they buy depends on the night. In our pull the Tuesday January 19, 2027 night had a lower median ($56.40 per 10,000 points) than the November and December nights ($58.50 to $58.90). Checking a few nights before booking matters more than when you earned the points.
