Short answer: in central Tokyo, Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya, Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo and InterContinental The Strings Tokyo gave the best value for points, with medians of $58.90 to $62.70 per 10,000 points across six nights. Tokyo is an expensive city in points, with a typical night of 91,000 points, and ANA InterContinental Tokyo was poor value on points every night we checked. If you can stay in Yokohama, InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 was the best value of all.
How we ranked them
We priced every IHG hotel in the Tokyo search that returned both a cash rate and a points price on Friday November 13, Wednesday November 18, Saturday November 21, Wednesday December 2, Wednesday December 9 and Saturday December 12, 2026. Reward nights were scarce: 15 of the 43 hotel nights returned had no points price, leaving 28 priced nights at 8 hotels. Each hotel is ranked by its median value per 10,000 points (cash / points x 10,000, in US dollars). With so few nights, treat this as a guide to which hotels tend to be good value, and check your own dates.

Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya had the most priced nights of any Tokyo hotel and the best central value. On Wednesday November 18 it was 120,000 points or $836.65 cash, $69.70 per 10,000 points.
Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo depends heavily on the night. Wednesday December 2 was 83,000 points or $539.82, $65.00 per 10,000. Saturday November 21 was 202,000 points or $985.19, only $48.80.
Where to pay cash instead
ANA InterContinental Tokyo was the weakest hotel in the city, with a median of $40.20 per 10,000 points and a high of $50.40. Its points price ranged from 100,000 to 258,000 a night. On Wednesday November 18 it was 258,000 points against $1,019.49 cash. Pay cash there, or use points somewhere else.
InterContinental Tokyo Bay never reached $55 per 10,000 points in our check, so it is usually a cash booking too.
Cheapest reward nights
The lowest points price was 25,000 points at InterContinental Yokohama Grand on Wednesday December 9, against $129.38 cash ($51.80 per 10,000).
